A measured, gradual approach.
For growing and fattening goats and sheep, give about 1 to 2% of live weight a day, more when the fodder is poor. For example, a 30 kg goat on mixed fodder gets roughly 300 to 600 g. A young kid or lamb needs about 100 to 250 g, and a milking goat gets extra for each litre of milk. Split it into two meals.
Start slowly, and never give a large amount of grain feed at once to an animal not used to it. Keep clean water available at all times. For pregnant or milking animals, check the amount with a vet or an animal nutrition expert.
