A measured, gradual approach.
Give about 1 to 1.5 kg a day for the animal's own body needs (less when there is plenty of good green fodder), then 1 kg for every 2 to 2.5 litres of buffalo milk (for cows, every 2.5 to 3 litres). From the sixth month of pregnancy, add about 1.3 to 1.5 kg more. Split it into two or three meals, and in summer feed in the cooler hours. When starting, reach the full amount slowly over 7 to 10 days.
Do not change the wanda suddenly; switch over 7 to 10 days. Always keep fodder and clean water in front of the animal. For a pregnant, sick or very high-yielding animal, check the amount with a vet or an animal nutrition expert.
